Job Title: Maintenance Technician 1 (Low)

Department: Die Casting Department (Twinsburg Location)

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

Summary

Responsible for installing, repairing, and monitoring industrial production machinery and facilities.  This is a position with exposure to electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow prescribed Safety Regulations and immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Safety Coordinator.
  • Ensure correct and safe operation of equipment and machinery
  • Follow detailed instructions to perform predictive and preventative maintenance duties
  • Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics
  • Ability to weld (stick & MIG) and perform pipe fitting (steel, copper, and PVC)
  • Safely operate tow motor, power tools, multi-meter, hoists and hand tools
  • Perform general maintenance functions (raise/lower shot-ends, charge bottles, and check cores)
  • Safely work with electrical 120VAC and 480VAC and lower AC & DC control voltages.
  • Hydraulically, be able to remove and rebuild hydraulic pumps and valves.
  • Install new equipment (install conduit, run wire, install pipes, etc.) and follow mfg. instructions.
  • Log work performed in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Maintain parts and tools inventory
  • Continue to increase electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical knowledge via on-going training, industry workshops and technical reading.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet production demands
  • Ability to perform on-call duties during plant off hours

Summary

Responsible for installing, repairing, and monitoring industrial production machinery and facility.  This is a high-level position which uses knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems to maintain and improve the capabilities of production equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow prescribed Safety Regulations and immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Safety Coordinator.
  • Ensure correct and safe operation of equipment and machinery
  • Ability to weld (stick & MIG) and perform pipe fitting (steel, copper, and PVC)
  • Safely operate tow motor, power tools, multi-meter, hoists, and hand tools
  • Safely work with electrical 120VAC and 480VAC and lower AC & DC control voltages
  • Follow instructions to perform predictive and preventative maintenance duties
  • Perform general maintenance functions (raise/lower shotends, charge bottles, and check cores)

  • Ability to use hydraulic and electrical schematics to repair faulty equipment
  • Ability to use PLC software to troubleshoot faulty equipment and modify programs
  • Maintain parts and tools inventory
  • Log work performed in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Identify parts required to repair faulty equipment
  • Continue to increase electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical knowledge via on-going training, industry workshops and technical reading
  • Assess the condition of used parts using micrometers, calipers and specifications
  • Lead and assist in the training of less knowledgeable maintenance technicians.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • Ability to perform on-call duties during plant off hours

Starting Wage: $15/Hour which includes shift premium $1 for second and third shift

Job Function
To safely operate die casting machine and trim press.

Essential Functions

  • Follow prescribed Safety Regulations and immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Safety Coordinator.
  • Ability to follow instructions, read and understand Attribute Sheets, gages, Work Instructions, set up sheets etc.
  • Perform daily paperwork requirements and fill out timecards accurately.
  • Ability to identify defects and understand the level of quality that the customer demands.
  • Report any machine problems to supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain housekeeping for machine and area at the end of your shift or before moving to another operation.
  • Consistently operates cast machine and trim press to expected cycle times.
  • Hand spray dies with release agent as instructed to prevent stuck parts and solder.
  • Monitor the die and machine for abnormal conditions, correct if possible and notify Supervisor if necessary.
  • Must be able to use basic hand tools.
  • Perform basic maintenance to machines and dies as instructed to maintain cell uptime.
  • Inspect castings for defects, properly dispose of scrap castings and maintain accurate count of scrap.
  • Maintains housekeeping of machines and dies during downtime and scheduled clean up times.
  • Quality Policy Awareness and compliance with the company’s employee handbook policies and procedures.
  • Must complete other production and non-production tasks as needed.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Job Function
Operates computerized lathes and machining centers.

Essential Functions

  • Follow prescribed Safety Regulations and immediately report any unsafe conditions to the Safety Coordinator.
  • Ability to follow instructions, read and understand Attribute Sheets, gages, Work Instructions, set up sheets etc.
  • Perform daily paperwork requirements and fill out timecards accurately.
  • Ability to identify defects and understand the level of quality that the customer demands.
  • Report any machine problems to supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain housekeeping for machine and area at the end of your shift or before moving to another operation.
  • Understand CNC machine fundamentals and basic operation including offset and tooling changes.
  • Performs daily maintenance on machines. (i.e.-coolant, lube levels, remove and replace chip containers properly, etc.)
  • Efficiently keep machine running and production consistent.
  • Quality Policy Awareness and compliance with the company’s employee handbook policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Three to six months related experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

Summary
Learn to maintain, set up, and operate standard tool room equipment (Manual lathes, bridge ports, Bench grinders and hand power tools) to repair and maintain for die cast equipment. Must have basic trigonometry. Must have own tools (0-1 micrometer, depth micrometers, 6” calipers, machinist handbook, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Learn to make core pins, ejector pins, punches and bumper pins.
  • Learn to plumbs and tests water and hot oil systems on cast dies.
  • Learn to review set-up packets and sign off on completed packets
  • Learn to remove and replace guide pins and bushings as needed.
  • Learn to Die changeovers
  • Learn to polish, solder & parting lines on dies
  • Learn to Grind and sharpen cutters, drills, etc.
  • Learn to Dismantle and assemble die cast and trim tools.
  • Learn to check, clean, and repair hydraulics and horn pins on slide systems
  • Learn how to interpret Blue Prints
  • Operate tow motor
  • Clean Cast, Trim tools and other related tools
  • Any applicable duties related to tooling, machinery, etc.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Effectively transport, weigh, label and stack or store product to prepare for shipping in an organized manner.
  • Must have excellent attendance record, willing to travel between shipping departments at our Peninsula and Twinsburg locations as needed.
  • Must be dependable, have good time management skills, detail oriented, proficient in reading, writing, have good computer skills
  • Be able to prioritize, multi-task, be able to work independently.
  • Properly complete all paperwork associated with shipping and receiving.
  • Receive supplies and properly store any inventory or received supplies.
  • Properly load / unload trucks using forklift or manual pallet cart.
  • Must have the ability to safely maneuver a tow motor and other shipping equipment, can conduct routine safety inspections on shipping equipment as needed, complete safety inspection reports accurately in a timely manner.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet production demands.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
